Southern Ontario Paranormal Society

Formed in October, 2005, The Southern Ontario Paranormal Society is a not-for-profit team of investigators dedicated to researching the historic and paranormal aspects of reputed hot spots, as well as private residences and places of business.

We have no desire to fake, doctor or mislead with any evidence we collect and present here on our site. Our aim is to find the truth, and to share what we believe may be real evidence of paranormal activity, along with full reports from our investigations.

If you believe you may be experiencing activity in your home or business and need help, please contact us with the details and we will do our best to help you in any way possible. We are committed to helping our clients 100%. This is our first priority.

Although SOPS mainly serves Southern Ontario, we are willing to travel if necessary.

*All of our services are completely free of charge and your information is kept entirely confidential.*

-Thank you so much for everything you and your team did last night for my family and I! It was so great to meet you and the rest of your awesome team! I really feel like I made some great connections with you guys... and last night was the first time in 3 weeks that I actually slept peacefully and wasn't constantly feeling like I needed to look over my shoulder! The information that you provided me with is perfect and explains much in great detail for me! Please keep in touch! My deepest gratitude and thanks to you and the team! - Private Investigation Client (October 2007)

Abandoned House Investigation and new adventures!

Some of the SOPS team ventured into an abandoned farm house that yielded some strange atmosphere during our scouting trip there last fall. The strange EVP can be heard in our evidence gallery or simply go HERE ! Remember to throw on a set of headphones for best results!

Anyhow, Steve, Rob, Chris and Cheyenne ventured into the strange house last night in an attempt to gather some evidence, which will be shared here if anything was gathered at all.

We will be conducting a joint investigation with our good friends The Shadows Project very soon. The location is yet to be determined. More on this as we get things worked out.

Also, coming up in August we will be traveling into Hamilton to conduct a joint investigations with P.I.S.T. at the historical Customs House. More on this as time nears!

SOPS Investigates Morningstar Mill and the ruins of the Decew Home.

Some members SOPS conducted a scouting investigation of both the Morningstar Mill and the ruins of the Decew Home located just down the road from the mill location. Special thanks goes out to Gary and Leah from P.I.S.T. for allowing us to be a part of this investigation process. In the process we also invited in a new member to the team and family, Cheyenne. As the main part of the night centered around the Morningstar Mill and surrounding location of the mills itself, the Morningstar house, Decew Falls and the blacksmith's shop, there was a period when the SOPS' team branched off and walked to the ruins of the Decew house, which served as the outpost for Lt. James FitzGibbons during the war of 1812. This was also the very location in which Laura Secord ventured to in order to warn the Brits of the American plot to attack them. There was the centre of our evening which begun at 8pmEST, and ended up around 2amEST. It also served as the centre of anything unexplainable that the group experienced the entire evening. More on this with our report coming very soon!

In the meantime, here are some pictures from the evening, more will be posted in our evidence gallery when the report and any other evidence has been finalized. Again, help us welcome our newest team member, Cheyenne, to SOPS!!

DeForest Clean-Up 2008

SOPS carried out it's 2nd annual volunteer clean-up of the DeForest pioneer cemetery in Milton this afternoon. The turn out was incredible! More then double from last year's count. More was accomplished, not only with the clean-up itself, but learning more background of the surrounding areas. More on that at a later date. For now, a big thanks goes out to the SOPS crew who sweat bullets working hard in making DeForest a cleaner place to visit. Also, huge thanks to both Gary and Leah from P.I.S.T. who offered their services as well this afternoon. We also managed to fix a few spots around the cemetery as well. Over all I think today was very rewarding for us all. Here's to next year!

Also, stay tuned for some rather interesting evidence captured during our investigation of a home in Port Robinson, that along with our overall report. Stay tuned!

UPDATE: We have added pictures from the clean-up in our gallery ! Enjoy!

UPDATE!

SOPS is gearing up for several new home investigations as well as some joint adventures with other groups. We are also looking forward to our first open meeting of 2008 taking place on Saturday April 12th. If you are interested in attending please email us to find out full details on time and location.

We are still working on the the final report for the two Winking Judge investigations. Please remember, that this like any other location can not be finalized as a haunted area or not with two investigations, this is something that takes a few visitations and more research. Still, in the meantime we will provide our findings very soon.

Waverly EVPS In Evidence Gallery!

We have finally posted the first 2 important EVPS from last August's visit to Waverly Hills Sanatorium.

The two EVPS are actually from a single event, and recorded on two different digital recorders. The EVPS are of what is thought to be Timmy, a little boy who is known to interact with people while at Waverly.

The EVP titled Timmy EVP_1 is from Rob's recorder and features a little boy's voice almost crystal clear in a seemingly very intelligent response to a question Rob had asked. There is also a secondary EVP, that is still very mysterious - one that we aren't able to quite make out, though it's pretty clear it is in fact another small child.

The second EVP file titled Timmy EVP_2, is from Lee-Ann's recorder during the same period of time. In this recording, the first EVP (Timmy) isn't so clear, but the secondary EVP (mysterious) is a little clearer, and almost sounding closer to Lee-Ann's position at the time of the recording. Both of the recordings are now online and in our Evidence section, in the EVP Gallery under Waverly .

There are more to come.

Return to the Judge!

SOPS has just finished off a 2nd level investigation of the Winking Judge in downtown Hamilton. Once again we would like to thank Mary for allowing us full access to the pub to conduct a much different approach then the first. One that found us centering on the areas we felt needed a more thorough look into. We were also honored with the presences of Gary and Leah from P.I.S.T. who also added another dimension to the investigation. Over the next couple of days we will be reviewing our evidence and of course will be posting both final reports as well as any evidence that passes our often critical minds as worth while footage to further the cause!

We will be conducting an open to the public meeting Saturday April 12th starting at 7:30pmEST. For full details on it's location and more, please emails us, thanks!

Winking Judge Follow-up and More!!

The group has agreed that more investigation time is needed to get to the bottom of the mystery that the Winking Judge holds. Some evidence leads us to believe that there may be a couple of hot spots in the location. We are currently setting up the date for the follow-up. Once completed our full report will be submitted and posted here on the site.

It looks like SOPS will be returning to Louisville, Kentucky where we will be hooking up with BJ and Tim of Bluegrass Ghost Chasers to investigate Waverly Hills Sanatorium on a more thorough level. This will happen at the end of June as it stands right now. More on this as the time draws closer.

So, expect us to have the EVPS from last August's visit there posted very soon!
