Formed in October, 2005, The Southern Ontario Paranormal Society is a not-for-profit team of investigators dedicated to researching the historic and paranormal aspects of reputed hot spots, as well as private residences and places of business.
We have no desire to fake, doctor or mislead with any evidence we collect and present here on our site. Our aim is to find the truth, and to share what we believe may be real evidence of paranormal activity, along with full reports from our investigations.

Last Friday evening we were on location shooting more footage for our upcoming documentary and while we were going through the footage we noticed that there had been some footage of a Rod captured. For those who don't know what Rods are, you can read on them HERE . Here's the our footage, please watch carefully as well desend into the darkness of the DeForest's hillside, you'll see the Rod fly across the framing of the camera!
Here's a still frame from the video displaying the rod. As you can see it has a full shaft and the fin that spirals around it's shaft. This is a textbook rod! Bugs, when at highspeed will show a beaded pattern in slow motion.
Folks, some photo evidence has made it's way to the surface! A photo taken by Steve during our visit to Rolling Hills Insane Asylum a few weeks ago. Steve was invited to join in on a joint investigation with good friends The Shadows Project along with Alex Rondini (Phantom Ezine) to investigate an old abandoned farmhouse the TSP have been doing research on for the last few years. This investigation is also apart of their new DISSOLVING THE SHADOWS podcast series. In this episode, you get firsthand, raw and very live window into our investigation at the farmhouse as well as our overall thoughts. Last weekend Steve, Chris and Linda traveled to East Bethany, NY to investigate Rolling Hills Insane Asylum. The investigation was a joint adventure which included psychic medium Robbie Thomas. Steve had at one point teamed up with Robbie as well as Rob Stone The Outlaw Ghosthunter out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Rob was using a storm glass during our investigation, employing it with what Robbie Thomas was picking up. This as well as audio, video and temp checks were in effect. The results were captured for Rob's series The Outlaw Ghosthunter series which will be released very soon. Until then you can see a short clip from our time there and from the first episode below. Full results from this investigation will be ready soon in our evidence area! There are a couple photo's taken from the night below as well. More photos will be available very soon!
SOPS will be conducting our annual clean up of DeForest Cemetery very soon! It's our chance to give back not only to the community, but to the people who rest there and their families. Steve joined Alex Rondini (Phantom Ezine ) and the group members of The Shadows Project in investigating a very interesting old abandoned farmhouse last night. A few elements of intrigued unfolded during the evening including a very audible sigh from an unknown and unseen source. Heard by Steve and TSP member Elvis. There was one point when the group was situated on the outside back porch of the old house when Steve and TSP member Stephan had felt a strong sense of being watched from just inside the open door. A few members of SOPS (Steve, Chris and Grant) are just fresh from our road trip to the historic Shanley Hotel in Napanoch, NY. A part of Paranormal 101's investigation, and of course a scouting trip for a future full SOPS investigation. We would like to thank both Sal and Cindy for the great weekend and for making us feel right at home, something it certainly felt like. We will be posting any evidence that we captured very soon, we did manage to conduct several EVP sessions throughout the Shanley. Full details will be up very soon!
Well, we are fresh from our investigation of this very historical family Estate located in Mississauga, Ontario. Hidden or surrounded by a small forest, the location was certainly a trip back in time. We had most of the group present for this investigation, including Alex Rondini from Phantom Ezine as well as Gary and Dan from PIST. Though things were relatively quiet for most of the evening, there were some interesting developments. Though small in nature, from shadow play to the odd strange thuds around the estate from time to time. Look for our full report very soon, once we weed through all the evidence that was collected tonight.
We have several investigations in the works or etched in stone. Coming up we will be visiting, Rolling Hills Sanatorium in Bethany, NY (May 23rd). Also, in the works are Fort York, The Don Jail both located in Toronto. Also, we look to return to Battlefield Park in Stoney Creek for a full investigation and much more. With reports of negative entities pretty much piggy backing on the client from location to location, and with having several other personalities in the paranormal community called in to help with no real results, we were called in to see if we could help the client with the problem. After a couple hours of extensive conversation with the client, readings and more, we seem to have at least cleared the negativity up with the client and the location. Of course this will be an ongoing process to ensure the client will be ok down the road. The client has ask to remain anonymous and the details kept private. This investigation was carried out by a few members of SOPS, along with PIST on Friday Feb 6th.
We are gearing up for future investigations in London, Ontario as well as at the Cawthra Estates in Mississuaga and the Shanley Hotel in Napanoch, NY. USA. All before April. So, stay tuned for more info on those investigations and more!!
